Q: When is a church a MEGAchurch?

A: When it has over 2000(!!!) worshippers.

Megachurches aren’t just a US phenomenon. These churches are in Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil; they have them in Los Angeles, and TWO in New York City. In South Korea, 250,000 people attend these EVERY WEEK!

These spaces are pretty popular. But they’re religious places so we should just ignore them, right?

There’s still a LOT that we, as activists, can learn from how these spaces perform –  “Activists have got to understand the language of the people that they’re talking to”. Listen to the latest episode of the Pop Culture Salvage Expeditions as Steve, Steve and Patricia explore the highs and lows of spirituality and what we can learn for our activism.
